      1. Rectorate site

This is the largest site in terms of the number of subnets and also the number of users. We observe a total number of ten distinct subnets, which will be managed by two domain controllers and three member servers. This site is linked to the UN VSAT Gateway by a primary Wireless backbone link.
{See section on Wireless LAN for more information}

      1. ENSAI-IUT site

This site is the most important and most strategic point of the entire UN Network. The reasons for its importance are:

  1. It harbours the Univeristy’s VSAT Gateway which is provides Internet link to the entire UN Campus Network.
  2. it harbours the UN Network Operations Centre
  3. it harbours the UN Campus Wireless Base station as well as the Base station that provides access to site 2 (Town).
  4. It harbours three domain controllers (two of which reside in the NOC) and two member servers

A total number of six distinct subnets are identified in this site.

      1. DIPD site

This site is relatively small in size and as can be observed in the UN campus layout above, this site was initially not in the infrastructure plan of the University. This site harbours one member server and just one subnet. A primary Wireless Backbone links it to the UN Gateway.

      1. DCOU Site

This is currently the smallest site having just one two users and no server. However, it is worth mentioning that, in the near future, this site could hold the largest number of concurrently connected users to the UN Network. This is because, the University’s IT Centre, when realized, will be under this site and will harbour a Cyber Centre and a Research centre for students, lecturers and even outside users.
Due to its small size, this site is connected to the UN Gateway using a secondary Wireless Link.

The above gives us an overview of how the UN Campus is structured. We shall provide more detailed information on the structure of the Wireless LAN in the “Wireless LAN”Section of this document.

Now, we shall take a more detailed view of the major components of the UN Network.
